"nyu/london"

I JUST GOT AN EMAIL:
Dear Alexandra:

We have finished our review of transfer applications for the College of Arts and Science for September entry. We received a record total of 1,850 applications for only 85 transfer spaces, and needless to say, we are unable to offer admission to a substantial number of highly qualified students whom we would love to see enroll at NYU.

You are one of the highly qualified students for whom we do not have a place. However, we have an alternative that we would very much like you to consider. We would like to offer you the opportunity to enter the College of Arts and Science by spending your first (fall) semester at our campus in London, England, and then coming to the New York City campus for your second (spring) semester. If you agree, you will be offered admission to the College, with the proviso that you begin your studies in London, and when you return to the United States for the January semester, we will guarantee housing in an NYU residence facility.

Of course, we strongly encourage all of our students to spend a semester studying abroad, and while most students typically begin their studies at our New York City campus before going abroad, in each of the last several years we have made this offer to a number of transfer students who have very successfully enrolled for study abroad in their first semester, and returned to complete their studies in New York.

Im sure youll have a number of questions for me, but let me suggest that before you call me you check our website at www.nyu.edu/studyabroad/london to see what we have to offer you in London.

I urge you to think carefully about this opportunity. Having said that, space is limited, and is first-come, first-served, so I hope you will be able to consider the possibilities soon. Please contact me at your earliest convenience to let me know if you are interested.

I look forward to hearing from you!
